Biography

Steve Probets is a lecturer  in the Department of Computer Science at Loughborough University.  He is programme tutor for the ‘Information Management & Computing’ and ‘Information management & Web Design’ programmes and teaches web design, e-business and ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems.  Steve completed his PhD at Nottingham University in the mid 1990s and worked as a self-employed consultant, undertaking server side development and Adobe Acrobat plug-in development for a range of clients until he joined the Information Science Department at Loughborough University as a lecturer in 2001.  In 2013 he moved to the Computer Science Department at Loughborough University.     

 

Research areas

  • Socio-technical systems, particularly the impact of technology on the scholarly publishing industry
  • Knowledge management 

Research Projects have included

  • 2009-2011: PEER funded. Behavioural Research: Authors and users vis a vis journals and repositories
  • 2007-2009: JISC funded Registry of Electronic Licences (RELI)
  • 2005/6 and 2003/4: JISC funded - Rights Metadata for Open Access (RoMEO)
