What courses have you previously studied and where?

I did my undergraduate degree at Coventry with a BA Hons in Business. I also completed an MBA at Loughborough and a MA in Songwriting at Bath Spa.

Why did you choose to do your degree at Loughborough?

Having studied for the MBA with Loughborough some years ago I know the quality of courses and teaching is excellent. So, when I wanted to update my IT skills it was my first choice.

How are you funding your degree?

I am self-funding my degree but did receive a bursary towards the fees.

What do you enjoy most about your degree?

Having worked in IT project and programme management I was very impressed at the depth and breadth of the course.  The quality of teaching is excellent, as is the support given.

What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?

The teaching staff are passionate about their subjects and put them across with such enthusiasm that you can't help but be inspired to learn.

What kind of exciting things do you get to do on your course?

We've covered a lot - from the basics of how computers work through to web design, network design and database design and management.  We also had the opportunity to go to the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) conference which was held in London and gave great insight into how the standards that govern the Internet are developed.

What would you say to someone considering studying your degree?

Do it.  Be prepared to work hard, but the reward is a level and detail of knowledge that I don't believe you'd get on many other courses of the same title.

What do you think of the social atmosphere on campus?

For me, I’ve mainly socialised within my department. That's the benefit of having a great course and studying with a bunch of motivated, like-minded people; it's been its own club.  I was also lucky enough to receive subsidised music tuition through the University which has been brilliant - and again, great tutors so it's not all been about coding!

What do you enjoy most about being a student here?

The campus is fantastic, the staff are so friendly and helpful; everyone wants you to do well which is so supportive.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I'll use the skills I've learnt in my job as well as for my own personal projects.

Has Loughborough University inspired you?

Yes, Loughborough is an inspiring environment to be in; there's so much to do and the facilities are great.  I've made friends for life and also developed interests and expertise in areas that I wouldn't have necessarily considered before, which can only stand me in good stead in the future.
