Analytical
and Pharmaceutical Science MSc
Overview
The Analytical and Pharmaceutical Science MSc is
broadly based and offers students modules covering the process from drug
discovery, through pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism to formulation
coupled with training in the techniques of analytical chemistry that are
used to underpin the drug development cycle.
The MSc programmes in Chemistry at Loughborough are some of the few programmes in the UK that receive national recognition
and funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Who should apply for MSc Analytical and Pharmaceutical Science?
- graduates in chemistry or a closely related discipline who wish to
contribute to drug development, a process that requires multi-disciplinary
skills
- graduates with no previous experience
of analytical or pharmaceutical science who require a conversion route
- graduates with some training at undergraduate level who require advanced study
Topics include:
Research methods
Separation techniques
Spectroscopy and structural analysis
Pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism
Professional skills
Research project
Careers
Graduates of this course have entered a wide variety of industries including
pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food, environmental management, national laboratories,
regulatory authorities and instrument companies; a significant proportion
go on to study for a PhD at Loughborough University or at other institutions.
