What is your research project about?
My PhD research area is in synthetic organic chemistry. My research project is the ‘Synthesis of novel fluorinated heterocyclic aromatic compounds for material applications’.
Why did you choose to study at Loughborough?
The reason I choose Loughborough University for my research was my supervisor who I was really impressed with. He has always helped me with my research.
What course did you study previously?
I did my MSc in Polymer of Advanced Technologies from University of Sheffield.
What do you enjoy most about your PhD?
I really like to make new aromatic heterocyclic compounds and characterise them through different techniques.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The school of chemistry has good academic and research staff. The research facilities within department are of a good international standard.
What kind of exciting things do you get to do during your research degree?
There are different courses and conferences that I have attended during my research here in Loughborough. I really enjoyed them and gained lots of experience.
What support have you had from the University?
Outside of the department, the Graduate School has helped me through different courses to improve different skills.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I would like to carry on my research after my PhD. I hope that the Loughborough University degree will help me a lot and put me in good stead for the future.
How has Loughborough University inspired you?
Loughborough University has helped me to develop many useful skills. And I have been really impressed by the way my supervisor has helped me throughout my research project.
