Triple success in Royal Academy Leadership Awards

May 11

Three of the Department’s undergraduate students have won a place on the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering’s Engineering Leadership Advanced Awards scheme.

Sam Corkill, Marco Frondoni and Jamie Shirra, along with one other Loughborough Engineering student, are among up to 30 students from across the UK selected to the programme.

The Awards are worth up to £5000 each and are made to provide carefully planned training and experience over three years, which will furnish the students with the skills and capacity to fast-track their career after graduating.

As well as financial support to realise their plans, each student will also be allocated a Sainsbury Management Fellow or past Awardee as a mentor and advisor.

Commenting on this success, Professor Chris Rielly, Head of Department said: “To have three students from the Department win places on such a high profile scheme is a staggering result. The Awards are a fantastic opportunity for the students to develop their skills, make new contacts and differentiate themselves from other graduates in an increasingly competitive job market.”
