Enterprise awards 2015 grp placement x 528

The Enterprise Awards, which recognise research projects and recent graduates’ work that have the potential to make a significant impact on the wider world, were held on 19th May, when staff and students gathered to recognise the achievements of our colleagues and students.

Three out of the six awards on offer were won by the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering.

Jon Carrotte Enterprise Awards 2015 x 250

The Economic Impact and International Impact Awards were both won by the Loughborough University Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre, (UTC), based in the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering.  The UTC has made a significant contribution to the development of the Rolls-Royce Trent family of engines.

The Student Placement award was won by Ajay Parmar, (pictured third from the left in the top photograph), a current MEng Chemical Engineering student who undertook his placement through the 2012-2013 academic year. During his time with Total, Ajay helped the company to achieve energy savings of around £800,000 a year across its Lindsey Oil Refinery site.

The evening was a huge success. 150 people attended the awards ceremony, half of whom were external to the University, providing attendees with good networking opportunities..

Details of all the award winners are available on the Enterprise Awards  website

We would like to offer our congratulations to Ajay and all of the staff and students involved with the Rolls Royce UTC.  Perhaps next year we can improve on three out of six awards…?
