International Workshop - Scale-up of Bioreactors for the Production of Pharmaceuticals and Foods: Towards Quality by Design
19 to 23 September 2016, Monterrey, Mexico

May 16

Under the Researcher Links scheme offered by the Newton Fund, the British Council together with Loughborough University, CONACYT and the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, will be holding a workshop on the above theme at the Instituto de Innovación y Transferencia Tecnológica (Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer), Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico from 19 to 23 September, 2016.

The workshop will be coordinated by Dr Brahim Benyahia (Loughborough University) and Dr Froylán Mario Espinoza Escalante (Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara), and will include contributions from other leading researchers and industrial sponsors. We are now inviting early career researchers from the UK to apply to attend this workshop. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the Newton Researcher Links scheme. Successful candidates will be selected by a committee at the lead Institution.

The workshop will provide a unique opportunity for around 40 researchers from the UK and Mexico to get together and discuss the topic, network and develop bids for future projects, as well as serving as a forum for disseminating and exchanging expertise and research findings.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Participants must be early career researchers: these are defined as holding a PhD or having equivalent research experience, followed by up to 10 years post-PhD research experience, (allowances are made for career breaks). Applicants from Mexico must have a Candidate of Science degree or a Doctor of Science degree or a PhD or equivalent research experience.
  • Participants must hold a research or academic position (either a permanent post, research contract, or fellowship etc.) at a recognised university or research institution either in the UK or in Mexico.
  • Applicants must fill in and submit the application form before the deadline.

Application and Deadline:
The application form, with further details on the initiative, can be downloaded here International Workshop - Application Form and will need to be submitted by Monday 11 July 2016 to Dr Brahim Benyahia b.benyahia@lboro.ac.uk
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by email no later than 20 July 2016.

Equal Opportunities:
The British Council is committed to equal opportunities and diversity in all its activities, and this includes the avoidance of any bias in the assessment of applications due to gender, disability, racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or religious belief. Extra support to enable participation of early career researchers with special needs will be given.
