American Chemical Society Symposium

Chemical Engineering Professor organises American Chemical Society Symposium

Professor Gianluca Li Puma from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Loughborough University co-organised and co-chaired the symposium on "Chemistry and Applications of Advanced Oxidation Processes for Removal of Contaminants of Emerging Concern".

The symposium organized at the 245th ACS National Meeting & Exposition in New Orleans run continuously for 5 days and attracted more than 130 participants from all over the world. It was the largest symposium among those organised by the Division of Environmental Chemistry of ACS.

Distinguished speakers including, Urs Von Gunten (EAWAG, Switzerland), Virender Sharma (Florida Institute of Technology), Marc Anderson (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Bill Cooper (University of California, Irvine), Elio Giamello (University of Turin), Jun Ma (Harbin Institute of Technology), Sixto Malato (Plataforma Solar de Almeria) Wilson Jardim (University of Campinas), John Byrne (University of Ulster) presented their latest advances and discoveries on applications of chemical, electrochemical, photochemical and photocatalytic methods for the removal of pharmaceuticals, personal care products, estrogens, pesticides, disinfection by-products and pathogens from the environment.
