The Doctoral Training Centre will be delivered through a virtual 'Centre of Excellence' comprising expertise from three Universities with a record of successful collaboration - Loughborough, Keele and Nottingham - together with industrial and clinical partners.
The managerial and administrative presence will lie at Loughborough. The activities at the three sites are truly complementary:
Loughborough specialises in translational research and the design and scale-up / out of small-scale cell based bioprocesses for cGMP manufacture, and underpinning engineering sciences.
Keele has expertise in cell biomechanics, enabling technology development and a record of delivery of cell treatments into the clinic.
Nottingham has expertise in stem cell biology, lab-scale culture, epigenetics and novel scaffold design; Additionally, all laboratories have complementary expertise in cell imaging, monitoring and quantification.
