Fees
The fees for postgraduate research students are set annually by the University. The amount payable is dependent on your fee status (whether you are a UK/EU student or an International student).

Scholarships
The Department is pleased to offer financial support for talented prospective research students. The scholarships committee meets quarterly to review formal applications made to the department where candidates are seeking financial support (see how to apply).
Funding is available in the form of studentships and these are awarded on the basis of academic merit. The candidate’s academic record, supporting references and the quality of the outline research proposal (minimum 500 words) are important factors in the committee’s decision on which candidates are awarded scholarships.
- Department Funded Studentships
- UK / EU - at least £12,940 per annum, tax free plus tuition fees paid
- Closing date for applications - 31st May, start date - October
- International students are eligible for a scholarship of 50-100% of the tuition fees; in exceptional cases a contribution towards living expenses may also be made (level to be decided by the Departmental scholarship’s committee)
- EPSRC Studentships
- UK / EU only - £13,590 per annum, tax free plus tuition fees paid
- University-funded studentships
- UK / EU only - £12,940 per annum, tax free plus tuition fees paid
- Industrial CASE studentships (EPSRC) – these are advertised when they are available (see Research Vacancies)
- These three and a half year industry-led PhDs include a 6 month placement with the Company funding the project
- CASE studentships come with an enhanced stipend, along with the opportunity to work in close collaboration with a company on an industrially relevant project
- Doctoral Training Centre in Regenerative Medicinee
- EU / UK students only with an Engineering or Physical Sciences first degree. Up to £18.5k pa plus tuition fees paid, see www.dtcregen-med.com
