Undergraduate study

Entrepreneurial support

Many of our students choose to use their creativity and experience to start their own businesses.

The School and University actively encourages this through a variety of means, seeking to equip every student with the skills required to set up their own business. Students in the School are taught fundamental entrepreneurial skills through module content based around starting businesses, patents, copyright and other legal issues.

During their studies, events are organised for and by students to consider prospects after graduation. For example, our Annual Employability Week event for careers advice and guidance, plus opportunities for students and graduates to network and exchange ideas about the creative industries at large. For students whose futures are more community focussed, we offer the opportunity to fully engage with the University Arts Programme, RADAR, for curatorial, performance and exhibition projects and to participate in external activities and events. Our Student Committee are proactive in encouraging students to consider their creative futures and we work together to ensure that opportunities are developed and passed from year to year.

Students from the School can also apply to become part of The Studio. This is a purpose built area designed to provide budding graduate entrepreneurs from the Loughborough Design School and School of the Arts, English and Drama with the office space, support, knowledge and resources to help them develop their own sustainable businesses.
