Having completed both my BA in English Literature and my MA in Early-Modern English Literature at Loughborough, I am now working on my PhD, studying eighteenth-century perceptions of beauty. My work explores the theories of physiognomy and analyses the expression of beauty in all different types of literature, from philosophy to fairy tales. My article 'He at first sight cou’d each Ones Fortune tell: Physiognomy and Fortune-Telling in the Early to Mid-Eighteenth Century' will be published in late 2012 in Great Expectations: Futurity in the Long Eighteenth Century, ed by Mascha Hansen and Jürgen Klein (Frankfurt: Peter Lang, 2012). In the following year I will be exploring how beauty is expressed through art and cosmetics. I also have the pleasure of teaching on Introduction to Poetry 1 and 2.
