How to apply

Entry requirements: A good undergraduate degree and masters level qualification, or equivalent experience, is expected.

Initial enquiries should be addressed either to Dr Jenny Fry or Emma Nadin who will be happy to answer queries concerning the application process and suitability of research areas proposed.

Research proposal Arts: The proposal should be approximately 2,000 words and include a provisional title, the question that forms the core of the enquiry, the scope of the topic, outline of the methods, approach and theory to be adopted, relationship to current research and literature in the field, and a provisional timetable. If you are practice-based, then you need to supply a portfolio of your work as a PDF document or web link with the application.

Research proposal English, Drama, Publishing: The proposal should be approximately 2,000 words and include a provisional title, the question that forms the core of your enquiry, the scope of the topic, outline of the methods, approach and theory to be adopted, relationship to current research and literature in the field, a set of chapter headings (with a brief outline of each chapter’s likely content), a bibliography of the reading you consider relevant to your research (indicating the titles you have already consulted), and a provisional timetable.

Once you have developed and submitted your proposal you will be invited to make a formal application.
We will ask applicants to provide necessary supporting documents, and contact referees once a decision to recommend admission has been taken. All non-native English speakers are asked to check carefully the University’s English language entry qualifications before applying.
