Rural landscapes inspire replicated surfaces as I push the boundaries of painting by sculpting and constructing textures, which are exaggerated by eliminating colour.
My work looks to challenge painting as I investigate the landscape and its three-dimensional qualities. Using inspiration from often overlooked, natural textures that can get lost in vast open spaces that envelop, categorise and define the landscape. Excluding richer colours in favour of neutral tones it brings a focus to my intensions of enhancing texture using a multitude of materials in replacement of traditional paint.
