I have been exhibiting my jewellery, wearable pieces of art, and drawings throughout Europe since 1989 at venues including:
In 2003, I had a solo-touring exhibition at Alternatives Gallery, Rome and the Italian Institute for culture in Stockholm. The show was accompanied by an illustrated catalogue with critical texts by the art critic and museum director Bruno Corà and Professor Andrew Stonyer of the University of Gloucestershire. Currently my jewellery research concerns the human body and uses its surrounding spaces as a parameter of measurement in objects, which enable wearers and observers to understand and reconsider the confines of their bodies and the external world. A process of subtraction, from the traditional setting, prompted the discovery of intriguing ‘memory spaces’. Recent works have encapsulated memory spaces within transparent silicone to reveal forms that oscillate between presence and imperceptibility. The microcosm is transformed into the macrocosm by magnifying the nuances of the body’s spaces in lens-like forms. Future projects involve a solo exhibition at the Sainsbury’s Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich featuring works that will respond to their Japanese collections. In 2005, I will participate in a group exhibition of mid-career European jewellery artists organised by the council of Padua in Italy.
