Why did you choose Loughborough University?

Aviation has been my biggest passion since I was a little girl. When I was looking for universities that offered air transport studies in the UK, Loughborough caught my eye immediately for its great reviews and high ranking among other universities in the UK. It also had great feedback from previous air transport students and won many awards for its student experience, as well as providing a great variety of modules and the opportunity to do a placement year.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I enjoy the interesting and interactive lectures, competent and always helpful lecturers and tasks that enable me to expand my knowledge about my most favourite subject and learn new things every day. Some of my favourite modules included doing coursework to create a corporate identity for an air carrier. It allowed me to not only show my knowledge on airline marketing, but also to be creative by designing my very own aircraft livery!

It’s also really exciting that we are able to meet and talk to industry professionals that visit our department or we see from time to time, e.g. lecture of Willie Walsh, CEO of International Airlines Group.

Have you had any support from the University?

I had a great Personal Tutor from my department who was there for me if I had any issues related to my studies. Moreover, for some maths related coursework, I visited the Mathematics Learning Support Centre that was extremely useful and helped me with my tasks. Everyone is here to help, you just need to ask.

Have you done a professional placement?

I did a placement in Brussels, Belgium at Airports Council International EUROPE. I was the youngest employee in their history, working at newly created position as Aviation Security Coordinator- it was a tremendous experience that gave me an insight into how the real world works. From giving presentations in front of Aviation Security Directors to having my article published in leading industry magazine for airports globally, ACI EUROPE Airport Business, it only reassured me that I genuinely want to pursue a career in air transport business - this is my path!

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I am willing to choose a path that would lead to an airport career, so I hope I would work at an airport in UK or abroad after I graduate. I believe that having a Loughborough degree in Air Transport Management will make me a competent and promising employee.

What would you say to someone considering your course?

I would strongly encourage - it might be the best decision of your life!

How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?

There are so many things that you can do - from salsa and skydiving, to DJ’ing and gliding! Now I’m in my final year and you can still get heavily involved, currently my friends and I are forming a band and I am learning to play a bass guitar. I think Loughborough University has given me the full package; an amazing course, exceptional placement and best friends for life!

Has Loughborough inspired you?

Loughborough University has given me the opportunity to grow as a person and understand what I really want from my life.
