Why did you choose Loughborough University?

I’ve always been interested in aviation and after meeting lecturers on the open day, the degree seemed a really good fit for me.

What attracted you to the University in the first place?

I wanted to go to a campus university rather than a city one. The facilities at Loughborough were unbeatable including the new halls, which I eventually moved in to. In terms of the degree, the department catered for exactly what I was after.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I enjoy its relevance to my chosen career path in airline business management. The lecturers are great and smaller-size lectures provide a unique learning experience.

Do you have a particularly favourite project/module on your course? Why did you enjoy it?

My favourite module so far has been Airline Operations. This has given me great insight into how an airline operates.

What kind of support have you had in the department and from the University?

Lecturers are always available if you have any problems. The careers service at Loughborough is also really useful – they can help with job applications and interview practice.

What are some of the exciting/different things you can do on your course?

We had the opportunity to attend a talk by IAG CEO Willie Walsh, which was really interesting and insightful.

Have you completed a placement whilst at University?

I completed a placement year at British Airways in London. It was a really great experience and I learnt how the industry works in the real world. I also have some valuable experience to include on my CV, which will help my future career.

What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?

I will complete a graduate scheme at British Airways. The theory I’ve learnt during my three years at Loughborough will be key and I’m excited to apply it within industry.

What would you say to someone considering your course?

Air Transport Management is a great course; I’ve learnt and gained so much more than I ever imagined I would. I’ve made life-long friends with similar interests and produced work that I’m really proud of.

How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?

The social life at Loughborough is great. I have been a member of societies and AU clubs during my time here and the opportunities for competing and travelling are tremendous. I would thoroughly recommend Loughborough as a place to study.
