Background:
Simon joined Loughborough University in July of 2017 having completed his PhD at The University of Sheffield the month before, where he also completed his undergraduate Masters degree.
Qualifications:
PhD, 2017: The University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK. Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. Thesis entitled: ‘Hydrological Performance Evolution of Extensive Green Roof Systems.’
MEng, 2013: The University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK. Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. Civil Engineering MEng (Hons).
Outline of main research interests:
Simon’s current research interests focus on understanding the influence of soil properties on flooding. This research builds upon his PhD work exploring the long term performance of green infrastructure as a means of stormwater control. More broadly Simon is interested in:
- Hydrology
- Soil Science
- Non-Invasive Investigation Techniques
- Green Infrastructure
