Research Associate in System Optimisation for Model Based Powertrain Calibration

Current Research:

Tom is currently working on the development of an automated Validation Platform for Engine Calibration (VPEC) in conjunction with Ford UK. Tom’s research is focussed on the creation of a multidisciplinary modelling environment capable of XiL simulation using a variety of tools including MATLAB/Simulink, Ricardo WAVE, AVL Cruise M and Modellica.


  • Received first class masters of engineering (MEng)  degree in Automotive Engineering from Loughborough University, 2011

Previous research:

  • Optimal Energy Management Strategy for a Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PhD thesis)
  • Fuel cell vehicle component sizing optimisation using optimal control.
