Working with industry

Students working with industry collaborator

At Loughborough we view our close links with industry as a fundamental part of our past and continued success.

We interact with industrial partners in a wide variety of ways including through collaborative research, hosting students on industrial placements, sponsoring degrees, postgraduate training and Knowledge Transfer activities. Much of work with industry involves working with other University departments, sharing expertise and facilities.

Our partnerships with industry help increase profitability, efficiency and inject innovation into products and processes.

Our team have a strong grasp of the needs and challenges facing industry, either from their academic experience of working closely with industrial partners or from previous experience of working in industry themselves.

Here in Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering we have close, long-established links with a wide range of companies in both disciplines, including AVL, BAE Systems, Cenex, Jaguar Land Rover, Marshall Aerospace, MIRA, Mercedes Petronas, Nissan and Red Bull Racing to name but a few. We also have formalised strategic partnerships with Caterpillar, Ford Motor Company, Lotus Group and Rolls-Royce.

We offer short courses for automotive engineering professionals. Each of our short courses is a module from our Automotive Systems MSc course which is accredited by the IMechE.

Visit the postgraduate study section for more details on our short courses for industry.
