Optimisation of the Output Voltage Quality Inverters
Nowadays, more and more distributed generation and renewable energy sources, e.g. wind, solar and tidal power, are connected to the public grid via power inverters. They often form microgrids before being connected to the public grid. One of the major problems in these applications is the quality of the microgrid voltage. Since the output voltage of an inverter is pulse-width-modulated and there are often nonlinear (local) loads, there are harmonic components in the microgrid voltage. According to industrial regulations, the THD needs to be maintained low often below 5%. Some new technologies are expected to be proposed to optimise the output voltage quality of inverters and tested by doing simulations and experiments.
