Background
- PhD (Dept Mech Eng, Imperial College) –1989.
- Post-doctoral research – Dept Mech Eng, Imperial College, 1989-1991.
- Post-doctoral research – Dept of Aero & Auto Eng, Loughborough Univ, 1991-.
Research groups
- Applied Aerdynamics
Research interests and activities
- Experimental techniques (LDA, PIV, LIF, etc) for complex turbulent flows especially applied to high Mach number exhaust nozzle propulsion systems.
- Design of experimental rigs
- CFD validation study
- Programming in FORTRAN, C, LabView, etc.
- Majority of the past and current research projects are undertaken in conjunction with the BAESYSTEMS and Rolls Royce at Loughborough University and include various investigations into the aerodynamic features on nozzle flows such as:
- Design and commission of a supersonic nozzle test facility
- Unconventional nozzle/airframe integration research
- A CFD coupled acoustics approach for the prediction of coaxial jet noise
- Experimental studies of mixing enhancement of a jet in co-flowing stream using tabs
- Development of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique for vortical flows
- CFD code evaluation for vortical flows associated with nozzle and ASTOVL aircraft
- Design and commission of the water tunnel flow for studies of STOVL aircraft flows
