Research Interests

- The use of active technologies to manipulate vehicle flow fields
- CO2 emission reduction through the reduction of road vehicle drag
- Active flow control techniques
Current Research
To investigate the flow field generated by notchback type bluff bodies with the ultimate aim of actively controlling structures in the near wake to effect global drag reductions.
Currently work is focused on determining the form of structures within the notch region of a SAE reference notchback bluff body, how these structures interact with one another and the mechanisms by which they generate drag.
This research will ultimately culminate in the application of active flow control techniques to manipulate the near-wake structures in order to bring about a net vehicle drag reduction.
