Research Impact Development Sub-Committee

Terms of Reference

 The Research Impact Development (RIDe) Sub-Committee will deliver the impact development element of Research Committee’s duty to monitor research performance across the University within the context of the University's Strategic Plan. In undertaking this role, the Sub-Committee will:

      i.        Support Schools in their efforts to develop all aspects of research impact delivery and development of a culture of impact, with the primary intention of achieving excellence judged against national and, where possible, international benchmarks.

     ii.        Facilitate the sharing of best practice in research impact development.

    iii.        In pursuit of excellence, consider processes relating to the creation and evidencing of impact.

   iv.        In pursuit of excellence, review examples of impact creation, at any stage of maturity, with a view to maximising those impacts.

    v.        Support the preparation of impact case studies for purposes including, but not limited to, research assessment exercises.

   vi.        Make recommendations concerned with participation in research assessment exercises with a view to optimising outcomes for the University in such exercises.

  vii.        Operate in ways that complement the work of the Research Quality Enhancement (ResQuE) Sub-Committee, particularly in the formation of submissions to research assessment exercises.

 viii.        Report and make recommendations to Research Committee and Enterprise Committee.
