The 5th International Conference on Innovation in Architecture, Engineering and Construction, AEC2008 will be held on June 23-25 2008, in Antalya, Turkey. The event is jointly organized by Civil Engineering Department, Middle East Technical University and Centre for Innovative and Collaborative Engineering, Loughborough University.

Background and aim:

The need for innovative approaches to design and construction is more important than ever. Innovation is a key survival factor in many corporate strategies, and a world of widely distributed knowledge has necessitated such media as Open Innovation, and Innovation Technology. Such developments represent opportunities for construction to grasp emerging technological opportunity. While global economy dynamics cause businesses to move, consolidate and change, there is now an intensified global attention to the environment. The AEC industry, through its influence on numerous related sectors of the economy, must constantly innovate, not only to meet bottom line targets, but also to meet the obligations for a sustainable built environment.

The aim of this conference is to address these issues by bringing together practitioners and researchers interested in innovation as a strategic theme and innovative approaches to design and construction in the construction industry.
