Quartet aim for Olympic qualification in Spain

Four Loughborough triathletes are amongst the country’s top 12 competitors hoping to secure a spot on Team GB with performances at the Madrid BG Triathlon World Cup this weekend (Sunday 25 May).

Loughborough-based Will Clarke, Tim Don, Stuart Hayes and Jodie Swallow will be joined by prospective student Hollie Avil in Spain for the final British Triathlon Olympic selection race.

Currently Britain’s athletes have qualified three men’s and two women’s places at the Beijing Games and must finish top eight on Sunday to be guaranteed a spot on Team GB.

Clarke is the only British athlete so far to meet any of the four selection criteria, having finished in the top eight at the 2007 Beijing BG Triathlon World Cup.
