Tancock and Goddard reach finals

Loughborough’s Liam Tancock and James Goddard are both through to tomorrow morning’s finals in the 200m Individual Medley.

Goddard finished sixth fastest after the heats in 1:58.63 and Tancock was seventh in 1:59.42. Both will be aiming to improve on those times in the final.

“I’m pleased,” said Goddard. “I’ve been taking this one race at a time and I am getting quicker as we go. That was a second better than my heat, so it’s looking good for the final. Two Brits through, it’s so exciting.”

“I’m really happy to be in the final,” added Tancock. “It wasn’t the fastest of races, but the aim was to get through so it’s job done. “This event is all about experience for me. The backstroke is the main one, so I am delighted to be in that final tomorrow.”
