Corrie in first Olympic final

Loughborough student Heather Corrie has reached the finals at her Olympic debut.

The 37-year-old, competing for the USA in the canoe slalom, finished eighth in a field of 10 after being penalised on both runs. Having received gate touch penalties on her first run, she was given a 54 second penalty on her second outing after missing a gate.

She finished in 270.88 seconds, 78.24 seconds behind new Olympic Champion Elena Kaliska of Slovakia.
