British women through to quarterfinals

The British women’s wheelchair basketball squad sit towards the bottom of group A at the end of the four-match preliminary round.

Beating only Brazil in a tough group that saw them face reigning champions USA in yesterday’s match (10 September), Athens silver medallists Australia in their pool opener and European rivals Germany, they have scraped through to tomorrow’s quarter finals.

Loughborough graduate Clare Strange, competing at her third Paralympics, provided 33 of Britain’s 166 points in their group campaign.
