More records for Loughborough’s relay swimmers

Ross Davenport and Dave CarryUniversity swimmers Ross Davenport and David Carry have helped set a new British record in the men’s 4x200m Freestyle.

The duo, competing alongside Andrew Hunter and Robbie Renwick, finished second in their heat with 7.07.89 – a time which ranked them fourth fastest of the qualifiers and further strengthened the squad’s resolve to gain further precious metal in the pool.

It was also a precious moment for Carry on the first leg setting a new GB record of 1.46.47, yet his thoughts remained with the team.

“What a British Record! I knew the team was swimming well but that was impressive,” said a clearly delighted Carry.

”The US are way out in front but behind them are a number of strong teams pushing each other. Tomorrow will be intense, it’s so close but we’ve shown that Britain are up there.”
