Alumnus takes X Factor title with band Rak-Su
Alumnus, Ashley Fongho, has been named one of this year’s X Factor winners with R&B, Hip-Hop & Grime band, Rak-Su.
The Psychology graduate is Rak-Su’s rapper, songwriter and poet. The group of four childhood friends have been making music together since they were young and decided to form their band officially last year before taking to the X Factor stage.
The band performed original songs throughout the competition, paving their way to the X Factor final, which took place on 2 December. The live final saw Rak-Su go head-to-head with fellow finalist Grace Davies over the weekend.
Rak-Su performed their winners track “Dimelo” featuring Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy on Saturday and again during the results show on 3 December.
The band became the 14th champions of the show and the first boyband to win in as many years. The band will receive a £1 million recording contract with Syco Music.
Ashley Fongho graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Psychology in 2013 and resided in The Holt Hall during his studies.
Congratulations to Ashley and his fellow bandmates on this achievement.
