Alumnus becomes World Bog Snorkelling Champion
Neil Rutter has recently taken part in an unusual Bank Holiday activity with his friends, bog snorkelling.
The event took place for the 32nd time this year in Wales and is attended by those looking for a fun new challenge. Neil took part alongside a fellow alumnus Tom Mecrow, friends and family members to celebrate a friends’ birthday.
Zig-zagging his way through a 110m boggy trench, the 2007 Painting alumnus completed the challenge in a time of 1 minute, 26 seconds.
On winning the race and becoming the Bog Snorkelling World Champion 2017, Neil said:
“I never expected to win it. I haven't done anything like swim training for almost a decade and we all just went for fun.”
“There were other events to fill the day including Husband Dragging, Wife Carrying and Ditch Running.”
Neil is looking forward to giving some of these other eccentric activities a try in the future – we wish him the best of luck.
