Alumni release new tea distilled gin
Alumni Nick and Emma Smalley have recently launched their brand new tea distilled gin.
Alumnus Nick studied Aeronautical Engineering until 2004 whilst alumna Emma studied Sport Science and Social Science until 2003 as well as an MSc in Sport Psychology until 2004. The couple met during their first week at Loughborough University and both resided in Butler Court.
The idea for the gin came about in 2015 and their first batch of gin was distilled in December 2016.
The gin fuses a rare hand-picked tea which is later blended with a recipe of gin that includes juniper, coriander and citrus peels.
The Teasmith Gin is distilled in Strathearn distillery in Scotland. The couple produced their first batch of 570 bottles and were delighted when it sold out within a few weeks.
Following their initial success, the alumni aim to work on exporting their product to countries such as China, Spain and Germany whilst also collaborating with gin companies.
We wish alumni Nick and Emma the best of luck with their new venture.
