3. Matters Arising from the Minutes

3.1 Matters arising relating to student discipline and the consumption of alcohol, and minor offences will be considered under Agenda items 4. and 6. respectively.

4. Student Discipline and the Consumption of Alcohol

4.1 Referrals

To receive a verbal report from the Director of Student Services on the options available for the referral of students found guilty of serious alcohol-related disciplinary offences, to the University’s Counselling Service, or to dedicated alcohol support groups with the wider community (minute 10/23.3(ii) refers).

4.2 Case Studies

To receive a verbal update from the Chair on discussions with the Chief Operating Officer regarding the suggestion that anonymised case-studies, containing details of penalties imposed by Student Disciplinary Panels for alcohol-related offences, be published on the LSU website in order to support its ‘Better Decisions’ campaign (minute 10/23.3(iii) refers).

4.3 Alcohol-Related Major Offence Cases in 2009-10

To receive a report from the Secretary on the proportion of major offence cases in 2009-10 which appear to have been alcohol-related (minute 10/23.3(iv) refers).

5. Major Offences 2010-11 (up to 28 January 2011)

To receive a summary of major offences dealt with by Student Disciplinary Panels in the 2010-11 academic year up to 28 January 2011.

6. Minor Offences

6.1 To note minor offences reported during the period 4 October 2010 to 21 January 2011.

To receive a report from the Senior Warden on the issue of consistency of penalties imposed by Hall Wardens for minor offences (minute 10/26.2 refers).

6.3 To receive a verbal update from the Security Manager on cycling offences (minute 10/26.2 refers).
