CONCLUDING COMMENT
There is every reason to expect
that the target of 2697 for UK/EU undergraduate recruitment will be met. It is
still too early to make a prediction with regard to UK/EU taught postgraduate
recruitment. The changing domicile basis of undergraduate and taught
postgraduate applications from international students, with a shift away from
China, together with a marked deceleration in growth, suggests that current
targets for 2005 may be too optimistic. A planned review of these targets will
take place shortly in consultation with departments and revised figures put
forward. The forecasting model will be adjusted to take account of the impact
of the new domicile mix.
