Senate

Subject:          Proposal for a Minor Amendment to the Composition of Health, Safety and Environmental Committee

Origin:            Secretary to Senate

It is proposed to amend the composition of Health, Safety and Environmental Committee, as below, such that only one of the lay members is required to be a member of Council. The appointment of both lay members will remain subject to approval by Council, and where possible, two lay members of Council will continue to be sought. The additional flexibility that this amendment will provide is sought because it has proved difficult to identify two lay members of Council with sufficient time available to attend meetings this year, and this situation may not change in the near future.

A member of Senate, appointed by Senate (Deputy Chair)

A Pro-Vice-Chancellor nominated by the Vice-Chancellor

Two students of the University nominated by the Students' Union Council

One representative from each Faculty who shall be the Dean of the Faculty or their nominated Head of Department

One member of the Ethical Advisory Committee nominated by the Chair of Ethical Advisory Committee

University Health, Safety and Environment Manager

Radiological Protection Officer
