Minutes of the Meeting of the Prizes Committee held on 10th November
2005
On the recommendation of the Chair of the Prizes Committee, Senate is
asked to approve the establishment of the following prizes and make a
recommendation to Council.
Professor Ondrej Sykora Remembrance Prize to the
value of £1000, and a trophy, may be awarded to the best paper accepted for
publication by a PhD student during their first or second year. Eligible students are those who complete
their second year prior to 11th May of the award year. A committee from the department will select
the successful paper. An award will not
be made if no acceptable papers are submitted.
1.2 Department of Information Science
Final Year Departmental Prize to the value of £100 may be awarded to the undergraduate student with the best performance in the final year of the Publishing with English programme.
The British Psychological Society Prize consisting
of a certificate presented by the British Psychology Society, a free one-year
graduate membership of the society, a copy of the book which was the most
recent winner of the British Psychological Society Book Award and a commemorative bookplate, to be awarded
annually to the undergraduate student, on the BSc Psychology programme,
graduating with the highest overall grade
2 Amendments
to Existing Prizes
On the recommendation of the Chair of the Prizes Committee, Senate is
asked to approve the amendments to the following existing prizes and make a
recommendation to Council.
2.1 Department of Design & Technology
A change in title of the Loughborough University
Innovations Prize to the Department of Design and
Technology Prize for Innovation
2.2 University
a) Change in criteria to the Loughborough
University Postgraduate Prize:
From: A prize to
the value of £400 may be awarded annually to a student registered on an MSc or
MA programme and of outstanding all round achievement in the University,
including academic achievement.
To: A prize to the value of £400 may be awarded
annually to a student, registered on an MSc or MA programme, for outstanding
all round achievement
b) Change
in criteria to the Loughborough University Postgraduate Progression
Prize
From: A prize to the value of £400 may be awarded annually to a student registered on an MSc or MA programme who has been accepted for registration as a Loughborough University PhD student, and of outstanding all round achievement in the University, including academic achievement. The award will be payable upon registration for a Loughborough University PhD programme.
To: A prize to the value of £400 may be awarded
annually to a student registered on an MSc or MA programme who has been
accepted for registration as a Loughborough University PhD student for
outstanding all round achievement. The
award will be payable upon registration for a Loughborough University PhD
programme.
