Senate
Subject:        Ordinance XVII - Conduct and Discipline of Students

Origin:           D L Wolfe

Senate and Council recently agreed the introduction of a “fast-track” route for student disciplinary hearings where there was no dispute in regard to the facts, and the student concerned admitted guilt.

Accordingly Paragraph 3(ii)(c) (i) of Ordinance XVII was amended to read “A Hearing shall normally take place within a further seven working days”.

The Student Discipline Committee feels that seven days may in some cases be too short a period to be practicable, and accordingly invites Senate and Council to amend the paragraph to refer to ten working days rather than seven.
