Subject:        Proposed Revision to Information Services Committee Terms of Reference

At its meeting on 17 October 2003, the Information Services Committee agreed in principle the terms of reference amendments outlined below. The formal approval of Resources and Planning Committee is now requested for the changes.

 

Terms of Reference

·        To keep under review the University's strategy in the area of information services and information technology, and the extent to which it is implemented, in light of overall institutional objectives.

·        To ensure that this strategy meets institutional objectives.

·        To recommend, to the Resources and Planning Committee and Council, policy in this area, including the balance of central, faculty and departmental provision of information services.

·        To maintain To receive from the Division of information Systems and Services a catalogue of the major ongoing and planned information based projects within the University and to consider recommendations and reports from these projects.

·        To receive recommendation and reports from these major projects.

·        To consider and recommend annual budgets for Audio Visual Services, Computing Services, Corporate Information Services and the Library to the Resources and Planning Committee. To receive, consider and comment on the overall annual Division of Information Systems and Services budget.

·        To comment upon and transmit to Senate and Council an annual report including the use of approved budgets.

·        To receive and consider reports from

the Computing Services service levels consultation meeting of IT user representatives,
the Corporate Information Systems advisory Group,

the Corporate Information Systems User Group,
the Data Protection Advisory Group,
the Faculty Information Technology Group,
the Freedom of Information Working Group,
the Library Users Committee,
the Audio Visual Media Services Users’ Committee.

·        To ensure that effective channels of communication exist between the information services and members of the University.

·        To report to the Resources and Planning Committee after each meeting.
