Criteria for entry of FD graduates to a Part C Honours degree programme in SSES

Students of Loughborough College who successfully complete one of the University-validated Foundation Degrees in the area Sport, Exercise and Fitness have two possible progression routes to an Honours degree.  One is to remain at the College and take the one-year Honours top-up in Applied Sports Science (also validated by the University) or to apply for entry to Part C of an Honours degree programme in the University School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.

The minimum entry requirement for entry to SSES has up to now been an average literal grade of B (60%+) over the two years of the Foundation Degree.  It is proposed that this requirement be amended to:

  • an average mark in Part A of 55% and an average mark in Part B of 65%

This change has been discussed between the College and SSES through the link-person, David Bunker, and with the AD(T) of SSH, and is supported by all three parties.

It is proposed that it apply to applicants for entry in 2010 and subsequently (i.e. not to College students who are already considering their options for 2009/10.)
