The agenda draws
attention to the publication by the Higher Education Academy of the Professional
Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in HE,

The PDQ Team noted
details at its meeting on 20 March 2006 and at the same time endorsed the
following proposals from Professional Development concerning the
University’s approach to the framework document:
(i)
to seek to have
the ‘New Lecturers’ route badged in line
with Standard Descriptor 2
(ii)
to seek to have
the ‘Associate Teaching’ route badged in
line with Standard Descriptor 1
(iii)
to accept that
the current Teaching Skills training for postgraduate teaching assistants would
not fit with the Standard Descriptor 1 but to emphasise that individuals could
follow the Associate Teaching route in order to gain recognition
(iv)
to defer action on provision to meet Standard Descriptor
3 until further information emerged on CPD.
