PPR Reference |
Response/Action |
Target Date |
11.1 |
The College will re write
the aims for the BSc programme and submit to the University to better
differentiate between the different courses. |
June 2006 |
11.4 |
The action plan which was
highlighted in the report to the external examiner has so far been
successful. A full evaluation on its success will be completed after the June
2006 programme board |
June 2006 |
11.5 |
The college has continued
to develop with one of the developments this year being replying to external
examiners comments. The college has not however been slow to respond, instead
the efforts have not always had the desired response. New second marking forms have been
developed and implemented and training on marking has been undertaken which
should produce more consistency across the board |
On going |
13.2 |
The college will continue
to develop its formal recommendations with support through the University
Liaison to examine current practices in the SSES. |
Sept 2006 |
13.3 |
The college already has
in place Higher Education Regulations
which require all teams to produce a learning, teaching and assessment
strategy. These are currently being reviewed in the light of the QAA reviews in 2005 and this PPR. This process will be
comprehensive and involve all HE teams. The institutional strategy will also
be revised. |
Sept 2006 |
13.4 |
The College is currently
reviewing accommodation in the light of the new building which opens in the
summer of 2006. It is also making a number of bids to agencies for funding in
respect of learning resource and study centres. The provision of a designated
HE study area is one element of this overall strategy. |
Sept 2006. |
13.5 |
As suggested in the
review this is an issue across the country and one which within the team we
are consistently trying to tackle. The support from our external examiner
(Pandy Brodie) has been extremely beneficial already in regards to this. A
review panel will examine this issue and make suggestions for improvement for
Sept 2006. These may include: a)
Separate
section in module booklets on the integration of work based learning across
the programme b)
Increased
emphasis of the transferable skills in assignments c)
Greater link
with relevant organisations |
Sept 2006 |
13.6-13.8 |
The College is setting up
an employer engagement team to establish an employer-learning network with
the following responsibilities: a)
To organise
student placement opportunities b)
To provide
training and development opportunities and training needs analyses for
organisations c)
To provide
information to employers on WBL and mentoring requirements d)
To collect
feedback from employers on course content and placement experiences |
Sept 2006 |
13.9 |
The mapping of programme ILO’s to modules will be undertaken and the
suggestion of the undertaking a mapping exercise to review the variety and
balance of teaching methods will be put to the Teaching and Learning team |
June 2006 |
13.10 |
This has been highlighted
and is currently being addressed in the re-write of module specifications.
This will reduce down the quantity of assignment for students and continually
ensure a high standard of appropriate assignments. |
May 2006 |
13.11 |
The team is consistently
addressing this issue and has come some way in tackling this. The Exercise and Health and Sports Performance Foundation Degrees
will have distance learning options to cater for students in full time
employment/training. The employer engagement team will also promote opportunities
to industry. |
