Terms of Reference

· To review and approve policies relating to the Data Protection Act 1998

· To oversee the implementation of data protection compliance measures

· To consider data protection issues in general and provide support for the Data Protection Officer in producing appropriate procedural notes and guidance documents

· To consider and advise on the balance of data protection and business objectives

· To agree standards to be adopted by the University regarding data protection

· To investigate serious breaches of the Data Protection Act 1998

· To oversee and prioritise training requirements to increase staff awareness of data protection

· To report regularly to Information Services Committee
