Policy on Risk Assessment in
pregnancy
The
attached Policy on Risk assessment in Pregnancy has been produced in order to:-
a)
update
the current process and provide clearer guidance to all parties
b)
ensure
compliance with legislation
c)
clarify
responsibilities with regard to risk assessment for staff
d)
identify
responsibilities with regard to risk assessment for students.
Although
the policy is a health and safety one (i.e. it has been written by the H&S
office, and is aimed predominantly at compliance with The Management of Health
and Safety Regulations 1999), much of the implementation in terms of initial
risk assessment falls to Personnel Services, as it sits alongside the
university guidance on maternity leave and payment of maternity pay.
It is
intended that this policy will operate in ‘Draft’ form for a 6
month period to ensure it is satisfactory for all parties. At that point it will be reviewed, and the
final version submitted to council for approval.
