4. Funding for 1998/9

• Overseas students: budget projection allows for c. 0.5M pounds drop from this year
• HEFCE funding for teaching increased by 2.3%
• HEFCE funding for research increased by 4.8%
• Overall increase in funding from HEFCE: 2.7% cp salary award of 2.9% over the year (plus increments etc)
