LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY
Ethical Advisory Committee
Background / History of the Committee
The Ethical Advisory Committee (EAC) was established in 1987. One the Committee's first tasks was to establish a Code of Practice on Investigations Involving Human Participants, and the Committee is responsible for ensuring that this Code of Practice is regularly updated.
Investigations involving human participants are undertaken in several departments in the University, in the course of teaching and research. The University seeks to ensure that the conduct of all its staff and students carrying out such work, whether human biological, psychological or sociological, conforms to accepted professional and ethical standards and is known to do so. The Ethical Advisory Committee and Ethical Advisory Sub-Committee were established to guide and assist investigators, and to ensure that full consideration is given to protecting the rights, and the health and safety of participants.
