Indicative Reading Lists

The Committee considered a proposal for the removal of the ‘indicative reading’ field from module specifications on the grounds of the confusion and aggravation that it caused to staff and students and that its ‘indicative’ status was inconsistent with the quasi-contractual status of other fields.  The proposal was APPROVED.

It was the intention that links from module specifications to Library reading lists would be maintained.

It was noted that indicative reading lists could be helpful in the context of a validation exercise and it was agreed that validation panels should continue to call for them even if they were not to be included in module specifications.
