Subject:        Programme Specifications (response to Minute 03/32.3(iii))

CSC was asking LTC to establish a group to review programme specifications as part of a review of documents which departments were required to produce.  It had been suggested that such a review should wait until after the Institutional Audit (see 48.1 above); it was recognised that programme specifications could be improved, but the Developmental Engagements in Chemistry and Computer Science had not suggested they were unsatisfactory.  Some minor enhancements might be made to the specifications from the departments identified for Discipline Audit Trails before the Audit, but not major modifications.

It was intended to transfer programme specifications currently on the intranet to an internet site during the current session, to comply with the requirement that they be published.  It was suggested that if specifications were intended to be made available electronically, they should be designed from the outset with this end in mind rather than in a paper-based format.

It was agreed that further discussions should take place to explore the scope for enhancing programme specifications in the future, and arrive at some initial conclusions that could perhaps be shared with the QAA Audit Team.
