T S Shipman Prize
Deadline for nominations: 23 March 2012
Loughborough University may award a prize or prizes to the total value of £800 annually to students of the University or the Loughborough College who are considered to have contributed most to the development of co-operation between the University or College and the local community. Students whose work has been undertaken solely as part of a course, however, are not eligible for this award.
If you know of a student or students [this includes all full-time and part-time undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research students] who have been involved in work in the community, who you feel should be considered for this award, I would be grateful if you would let me know by no later than the deadline shown above. Due to the nature of this award, it is the usual procedure to make nominations without the student(s) knowledge.
To nominate a student, please use the Nomination Form.
If nominating a student/s for both the Hannah Community Prize and the T S Shipman Prize, please complete separate forms for each nomination.
Individuals who are primarily and originally registered as students of the University may be considered for the prizes. However individuals who are primarily and originally employed by the University will normally be excluded from consideration due to the nature of the prize.
You may wish to note, for guidance, that the main objective of the award is to recognise activities which would lead to the improvement of the situation of groups of people or individuals in Loughborough and the surrounding villages. For instance, in the past the T S Shipman Prize has been awarded for involvement in youth work, local Scouts and Guides groups. However, voluntary work not concerned with people, but nevertheless of benefit to the community, would also be eligible.
Nominations should be sent, preferably by email, to Mary Cajkler (M.G.Cajkler@lboro.ac.uk), Academic Registry.
