University Identification (ID) Card
New Students
For new undergraduate and taught postgraduate students who have completed and SIGNED all the necessary documentation and returned it along with a photograph, a University ID card will be ready for collection when you arrive at your Hall of Residencebefore the start of term. If you are not in hall, you will need to collect your ID card from the James France Building on the Friday before term. For more info, see our Registration pages.
You will need your ID card to...
- Use the Library
- Gain access to halls of residence and other buildings (including the Students' Union)
- Operate automatic car barriers if you have a parking permit
- Request certificates and other services from central administration and collect mail from the University Mail Room.
- Prove your student status to town centre and other retailers
The card will be in use for the whole of your programme and must be presented at registration each session for validation. It remains the property of the University and must be returned when you finish your studies.
New students - please remember to affix a passport-sized photograph to your registration form before you return it. Failure to do so will result in us being unable to produce an ID card in time for your arrival.
Replacement Cards - Lost, Stolen or Damaged Cards
Your ID card will be very valuable to you. Please keep it safe. Replacement cards can be obtained from the Accomodation Office during office hours.
A non-refundable administration charge of £7.00 is payable for damaged, lost or stolen cards. Your old card will be cancelled and cannot be reactivated if you recover it at a later date.
Please remember to inform the library when you have had a replacement for a lost or stolen card to ensure that no books are taken out on your lost card. All other University databases are updated automatically.
